NEET 2021 to be conducted twice this year: On Feb 8’2021 in The New Indian Express, an article has been published saying that the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has announced the National Entrance cum Eligibility Test i.e., NEET will be conducted twice the year and given a green sign for the equivalent, preparing for the assessments to be coordinated on the lines of the Joint Entrance Examination (Main).
In a recent meeting of NTA i.e., National Testing Agency and Education Ministry, Health Ministry Officials had a discussion over the issues of Online and Offline mode of examination, and multiple sessions were discussed.
The examination schedule is not organized still for the medical, dental and several other related institutions are not finalized till now.
This year NEET has been conducted in September but usually, it takes place in the first week of May every year. With all the necessary precautions NEET has been commenced this year due to COVID-19.
NEET 2021: Twice year Test Format
Last year in JEE mains the twice a year test format has been adopted. The twice year test format would allow the students to be graded on the basis of two best scores.
Senior unnamed Official in the medical education department of the Health Ministry said that “While we felt that a large number of NEET aspirants still may not be ready for appearing in the examination in Online mode, there is now a consensus on conducting the test twice this year”.
From National Testing Agency i.e., NTA one of the Official said that “The idea is to reduce the stress on the students and allow them to better their scores”.
Education Ministry nods to conduct NEET twice the year
Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank, the Education Minister in an interview said that there is a possibility of the examination being conducted twice to give students an additional attempt to be actively addressed.
Over the years the number of NEET aspirants increases but the number of medical seats don’t. NTA has yet not declared the dates for NEET 2021. We will keep you updated about the test dates and other test-related information.
NEET 2021: Syllabus remains the same
On January 19’ 2021 the Education Ministry released the declaration that the NEET Syllabus of 2021 remains the same as the previous year.
NEET UG Counselling
All India NEET UG Counselling 2020 is conducted by Directorate General of Health Sciences (DGHS) on behalf of MCC i.e., Medical Counselling Committee for MBBS Admission in India. Candidates who had qualified for the entrance exam are eligible to register for the Counselling process. List of NRI candidates has been released by MCC for Round – I of NEET Counselling. The Counselling round is conducted for 15% All India Quota (AIQ), Deemed Universities, Central Universities, AIIMS and JIPMER, ESIC, AFMC MBBS/BDS seats for 2020.
